Risk factors for sexual problems in adolescence include contextual factors such
as socioeconomic status (SES), as well as family/parenting and peer factors
(Aronowitz, Rennells, & Todd, 2006; Huebner & Howell, 2003; Swenson &
Prelow, 2005).

Self-esteem, permissive parenting style (identity diffusion) and a propensity for
risky behavior, substance abuse, sexual activity, poor grades, etc.
Another important factor in sexual risk taking is self-regulationthe ability to
control ones emotions and behavior (Lombardo, 2005).
