Bud, Not Buddy Book Review
Bud, Not Buddy is afiction book that has 245 pages. The author is Christopher Paul
Curtis. The main character is Bud, he is ten years old and he is smart, brave, respectful and
always safe. The book takes place in Flint, Michigan in 1936.
The setting affects the story because Bud is lonely without amother or father and living
during the great depression. The story is about aten year old kid trying to find his father. He is a
orphan because his mom died. His name is Bud and he does not like anyone calling himBuddy.
The themes are family, hope, love and to never give up. A thing that I liked about the book was
that Bud was smart and brave enough to look for his father. Also, that Bud is not abad kid. He is
actually very well behaved.
The part that I didn't like what the fact that Bud was an orphan. Another thing that I :
didn't like was that Bud believed in vampires and other stuff that are unrealistic. My favorite part
was when Bud steals the car from Lefty Lewis because it was funny. It was also my favorite part
because he was brave enough to do that. I would recommend this to grades 5- because it's funny
and it is full of adventure. My favorite character is Bud because he is smart and brave. My
opinion is that the book is very exciting, funny and detailed. It is funny because Bud steals the
car from Lefty Lewis.
