Focus Questions:
1. What can word processor do?
2. What are the different icons in Word Processor and their functions?
Attainment Targets: At the end of the unit learners should be able to:
1. Give and receive information about how to perform tasks in word processor.
2. Read and interpret data about word processing features.
Rationale: The topics in this unit provide a theoretical introduction to word processing for all
students, they are especially written to cover the syllabus requirements for the General
Proficiency students. This unit will expose students to different resources and features, and tools
available in Microsoft Office Word Arts. These different web tools provide students with the
different options of organizing their documents suitable to their different needs. This unit is
essential because it aids in giving students a better understanding of the different web tools made
available and their contributions to enhance the quality of documenting. Along with this benefit
the unit will help in guiding students as they consider their different career paths.
This unit will enable students to use their skills learnt to support the new curriculum
requirements. This will be achieved through hands on activities and the use of resource persons.
In addition, by the end of this unit, learners should be able to develop a keenness for the
importance of understanding the use of words art as they would have learnt about the different
options made available. In addition their typing and listening skills will be developed through
the various activities provided. These activities include practical exercises using Microsoft
words, making models and discussions.
