English-Polish translation of the book entitled:

Translating for the European Union Institutions
by E. Wagner, S. Bech and J. M. Martinez

Undoubtedly, the European Union is one of the major players that shapes and
influences the political, social and economic situation on the Old Continent.
Poland is among new members of the EU who became member-states on 1 May,
2004. Accession created a relentless need for providing efficient communication and
interaction between institutions in Poland and in Brussels. One of the key factor that
contributes to the maintenance of this channel of communication is translation. Therefore, it
would be particularly useful for the Polish translators to have comprehensive insight into how
translation is conducted in the EU, what translation strategies are employed and finally what
translations problems may occur.
The scope of the work translating for the European Union Institutions may be of
particular interests of any Polish translators who would like to broaden their knowledge
related to EU-translation practices regardless of the target language they translate into.
Moreover, the translated publication could also be used in academic field. It could be
included for instance, in any EU-related curricula.
EU translation is a rapidly expanding area of Translation Studies and overtime it
gained immense importance. Therefore, it is vital to provide access to relevant resources on
this topic to the Polish readership.
