1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
In 1866 Mr Gustave Eiffel formed a Steelwork Construction company in Paris by the name of Les Ateliers de Construction Gustave Eiffel. In the years 1887-1889 the company was used to construct the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and in the years 1898-1900 The Grand Palais on the Champs Elysees, two of Paris most iconic and visited buildings
In 1966, the formation of Compagnie Francaise D'Entreprises Metalliques (CFEM) combines the Eiffel Steelwork Company along with three other large structural companies.
In 1988 CFEM completed the Pyramid du Louvres.
In 1989 CFEM is rebranded Eiffel Construction Metallique, and in 1993 forms a cornerstone in the establishment of the Eiffage Group along with Fougerolle.
The group now has five key divisions.
Eiffage Construction Eiffage Concessions
Eiffel Construction Metallique Forclum
Eiffage Travaux Publics
In the years 2002-2004, Eiffel was a fundamental part of the construction of the Millau Viaduct, which incidently is owned by Eiffage Concessions.
In 2006 Eiffage was the 6th largest construction group in Europe (2nd largest in France) with a turnover in excess of 13 billion of Euros. The group has ongoing concerns in each of the following European countries: France, UK, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Spain, Portugal,
Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and has companies involved in such activities as; quaries, wind power, marine works, electrical installation, oil rig manufacture, road building, bridge building and power generation. In addition to this Eiffage Concessions owns the Millau Viaduct and in excess of 40% of the Autoroute Network.
Eiffage recently completed the construction of a 150Km section of a A24 from Visew to Chaves under the Consortum and are in the final stage of the new Perpignan to Figeras TGV line in Consortium (TP Ferro) ACS Dragados which will place Barcelona in only 5h30 by train from Paris, this line after completion will be operated as a concession by the Consortium.
Eiffel UK Ltd was set-up in 1985 to provide a Sales & Marketing base in the Uk for Eiffel.
The primary objective was to sell offshore manufacturing skills and resulted in Eiffel building two of BP's largest oil chilling platform - Bruce and COBO.

In 1995, Eiffel expanded its operations in the UK to encompass its first construction project - the provision of the suspended curved fixed point facade for the Channel 4 building.
This was followed up by a number of prestigious projects, including:
Natwest Tower/ Tower 42 Entrance National Maritime Museum Paddington Rail Station Concorde Lower Precinct Country Manchester Art Gallery
40 Grosvenor Place
Chineham Court
Havilland Land, Guernsey Electronic Arts HQ
Festival Place, Basingstoke
OS8/ Waitrose building - Canary Wharf
In 2003 Eiffel Uk Limited was restructured to give the company a more independent footing, and now whilst still marketing on behalf of Eiffel Construction Metallique, Eiffel UK is one of the foreign divisions of Eiffel Construction Metallique, actively tendering and executing
contracts to our stewardship. Eiffel Construction Metallique.
A brief list of big projects installation since 2003:

In turn, Eiffel UK has developed to provide a complete management team for UK/Ireland projects on behalf of Eiffel, covering all aspects from project management through construction management and covering all necessary aspects 0 Health & Safety and Quality management.
In 2007, Eiffel UK acquired the assets of Horwich Steelworks Limited (ESL) with factories in Bolton and Wigan. During the course of 2007-2008 saw an ambitious investment programme in the company, which consolidated the factories out one site in Wigan, along with in excess

of £2.5 Million in investment, including new machinery and equipment, a new factory unit and training.
ESL now employs more than 45 personnel and has the capacity to produce a wide variety of steelwork, from "simple" beam and column to the more complex tabular and architectural steelwork, as well as line for providing plate and box gerder sections.
The investment has included a new Peddinghaus saw a drill line (the largest model made by Peddinghaus) a new Peddinghaus plate cutting machine, a new ESAB profile burner, two mobile ESAB sub-arc welders and a new twin head ESAB "robot" sub-arc gravity.
The new factory and equipment have resulted in the company having a weekly output capacity of between 300-400 tonnes, dependent upon the nature and complexity.
In 2008, Eiffel UK Ltd unveiled Eiffel EZI panel, which is a metal lured modular parelling system for a use in hotels, student accommodation and the like. Eiffel UK are happy to announce that the system has recently been chosen by hotel chain Easy Hotels as their modular panel system for their franchise hotel chain.
