1. Functional leader is one who is expert in a particular field and has risen to the position by virtue of
certain special skills he possessen
He believes in continual improvement (ways and means of doing things better)
He dose not command any formal authority & is ready to offer helf to sub-ordinates provided they
approach for genuine job related problems

resence of an expert is always beneficial for the subordinates as !ell as organi"ation

Functional leader is a taskmaster (believes in work) and only if sub ordinate is efficient he will be able
to put up with such a leader

Functional leader may demand performance from his sub-ordinates which may frustrate them & may
give to miss- understandings
