Skimming (shallow reading)

It lets the reader identify, quickly and easily, the contents and main ideas within a text. Images, title and other
characteristics are used to make an overall idea about the text.





Scanning (selective reading)
Unlikely the previous technique, scanning gives the reader the opportunity to find specific data in the text like
dates, numeric data, names, etc. this reading focuses on the information needed and details rather than an
