Checklist for jointing of socket (push-on) joints

(1) Cleanliness of socket rubber rings, socket heads and spigot ends of pipes &
fittings.

(2) Proper insertion and seating of rubber ring on the groove of socket head.


(3) Proper lubrication is applied to the internal surface of
rubber ring, and the external surface of chamfer spigot
end of pipes.






(4) 2-line marking on the external surface of spigot end to ensure complete
insertion of pipes into socket head. (Note : Where spigots, require preparation on site,
the outside of the spigot should be filled or ground to produce a chamfer angle of
approximately 200. This removes sharp or rough edges which might damage the
gasket, and in addition facilities the entry of the spigot past the gasket.)

(5) Proper alignment of spigot end and socket head to ensure proper position of
rubber ring after insertion.















(6) Check proper position of rubber ring all round the socket head using a feeder
gauge.













(7) Check no visible water leakage or sweating at specified testing pressure and
holding time with no drop in pressure.

Checklist for jointing of flange joints



(1) Cleanliness of bolting surfaces of flanges, flange rubber gaskets and bolts &
nuts.


(2) Positioning & insertion of four location bolts on the flanges.















(3) Positioning & insertion of rubber gaskets on the bolts.


(4) Proper tightening sequence of bolts and nuts to ensure even tightening.


(5) Check no visible water leakage or sweating at specified testing pressure and
holding time with no drop in pressure.
