Abstra&t
Pigeon Hole Imaging (PHI) is a new and simple imaging modalit to gi!e a low resol"tion electrical impedance image#
concei!ed and de!eloped at $ha%a &ni!ersit earlier. 'his ma (e "sed to per)orm meas"rements on (od organs whose
positions are not acc"ratel %nown# or which mo!es d"ring meas"rement. * newer !ersion o) PHI has recentl (een
concei!ed (ased on a + electrode ,oc"sed Impedance -ethod (,I-)# also de!eloped at $ha%a &ni!ersit. In this !ersion o)
the PHI# man electrodes are arranged in a rectang"lar or s."are matri/. &sing each o) the ad0acent + electrodes# an ,I-
meas"rement is made which gi!es the respecti!e impedance within the indi!id"al matri/ position# with negligi(le
contri("tion )rom the s"rro"ndings. 'h"s all the res"lts# arranged and assigned to respecti!e matri/ positions# gi!es the
desired PHI image directl.
In this paper we will present the 1$ sensiti!it distri("tion o) PHI (ased on )inite element analsis# "sing a so)tware
pac%age %nown as 23-435. 'he sensiti!it is a )actor determining the in)l"ence o) the local resisti!it on the total res"lt.
'o per)orm this tas% )irstl the sensiti!it distri("tion o) a (asic + electrode ,I- element was per)ormed. 'his agreed to the
sensiti!it o(tained (ased on a di))erent approach# the lead )ield theor. 'his sensiti!it distri("tion was then mapped on to
all the matrices in the ass"med 6one co!erage. 7 com(ining the sensiti!it !al"es o) all the matri/ elements alge(raicall#
the desired sensiti!it distri("tion )or PHI was o(tained.
PHI has the potential to loo% into dnamic )"nctional images o) the thora/ region# which ma (e "se)"l )or diagnosis
and phsiological st"d.
