Why MBA in Rural Management at IIHMR

The two year MBA-Rural Management offered by IIHMR has been designed keeping in mind the growing
needs, challenges and opportunities of rural India. Our students are molded by a highly qualified and
experienced faculty to have responsive, compassionate, perceptive and innovative cognition and
analytical abilities to meet the challenges of the hour.
Rural management is a field aimed at facilitating rural transformation, negotiating the complex interplay
between different interest groups and priorities, including infrastructure development, better
integration with the markets, equitable use of natural resources, reinvigorated agriculture and livestock
production, fulfilling basic entitlements like health, nutrition, education and the holistic well-being of
community and their eco-systems. We have been nurturing thought leaders who are able to manage
with dedication and knowledge as well as a compassionate heart.
IIHMR consciously provides an all-round development and training to our students through a
pedagogical mix of classroom segments, field exposure, assignments and discussion in formal and
informal settings, project during summer internship of two months and dissertation for three months.

After doing MBA in Rural Managements students can get opportunity to work with NGOs, Government
Organizations, private enterprises, rural industries, cooperatives, banks and financial institutions. There
are also growing opportunities with multinational companies, which are seeking entry into the huge,
untapped rural markets, particularly in sectors such as production and agro-based industry, rural
housing, Corporate Social Responsibility department. They work in rural enterprises as policy makers,
managers, analysts and consultants advising on operational efficiency and improvements with average
compensation of about 3.5 lacs per annum.
