ABSTRACT

The government of Karangasem regency rolled of Zona Selamat Sekolah (ZoSS)

by providing infrastructure to support in the implementation of the protection of
students who cross in the area of the zone.

The purpose of this study was to know the condition and perception of adoption
Zona Selamat Sekolah that has been rolled out by the government of Karangasem
regency existing condition by comparing with the standard on final report of
Performance Evaluation Preparation and Review of ZoSS Design (Department of
Transportation, 2009) and guided road performance analysis in Indonesian in
Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. Survey uses a video camera to observe
the behavior of pedestrians, delivery vehicles and vehicles that pass ZoSS adapted
to existing procedures.

The results showed: (1) the condition of the existing facilities ZoSS relative need
some improvement appropriate existing standards; (2) by the results of this study
for pedestrian violations are 37.97 % and 38.54 % shuttle vehicle violations.
While light vehicle violations are 91.34 % and 91.58 % for motocycles; (3) the
understanding in introduction of application ZoSS in Amlapura City by Likert
scale in the category Know / Understand with a score of 118.5 out of 160 score
was expected. Likewise, the teachers understanding of the application ZoSS in
Amlapura city by a Likert scale in a category to Know / Understand with a score
of 104 out of 140 score was expected. Similarly, the students understand of the
application ZoSS in Amlapura city by a Likert scale in a category Know
Understand with a score of 260.75 on the score of 352 was expected. While the
introduction perception of the application ZoSS in Amlapura city by a Likert scale
in Effective category with a score of 107.67 on the score of 160 was expected.
Likewise, teachers' perceptions of the application of ZoSS in Amlapura City by
Likert scales in Effective category with a score of 96 out of 140 score was
expected. Similarly, perceptions of students of the application of ZoSS in the
Amlapura city by a Likert scale in the Effective category with a score of 252 out
of 352 score was expected.
