The Attendance Review Committee (ARC) will monitor
attendance every 5 weeks and will notify staff of all students who are part of the process.
Communication with the student and families will occur through daily phone calls for absences, a 3-day absence letter home, and an ARC letter once student has more than 5 unexcused absences in any class.
Students who have more than 5 unexcused absences in any class will be required to attend an ARC meeting and will no longer be allowed passes until improvement is shown at a subsequent 5 week monitoring period.
Students who have more than 10 unexcused absences will also have an individual meeting and sanctions will be imposed on an individual basis.
Possible sanctions: communication home, no passes, meeting with teacher/GLC/ARC member/counselor/case manager/parent/admin, escort to class, no groups, no dances or special activities, no parking passes, separate lunch, no field trips, ID badge revoked, no open campus during lunch for seniors, study hall sign out revoked for seniors.
Credit will no longer be directly tied to attendance, however teachers are still free to use their own individual "participation" points to reflect on the students grade.
