Resumen de la unidad
Due to the rushed life we live, eating properly has almost become a privilege. It has got to a point where it is
thought, mostly by the elders, that the younger generations are not eating well. Therefore, it is crucial not only
to inform students about nourishing but also to create a social awareness on how important it is to eat well. To
accomplish this, students will inform themselves to then pass it on others. They will elaborate a PowerPoint
presentation as well as a Montage. Students will also develop teamwork skills by designating roles within
work groups. Finally, they will be assessed through the use of rubrics along with an objective test.

Question #1
What is the food pyramid?
Observations: the teacher will hand an SQA chart to the students to measure
their previous knowledge on the topic food pyramid. The teacher will also show
the students a video taken from YouTube about the food pyramid, what it is and
its purpose. Along with that, the teacher will create a OneNote for the group to
share their works and will provide the students a tutorial on how to share
through OneDrive.

Resources: computer, data show projector, speakers, paper, and pen.
Applications: Internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint.

Activities:
Complete an SQA chart about the food pyramid
Watch a video on YouTube about the food pyramid. Go to the following
link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlO5s14-0gE

After watching the video about the food pyramid, comment your ideas
with your classmates about what the food pyramid is.

Individually, write down a paragraph describing the food pyramid. Share
using OneNote http://1drv.ms/RYZ6Eg. Here is a tutorial on how to
share through OneDrive
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi9WqMQjXko

Once they have finished their paragraphs, using the color technique, they
will gather in groups to consolidate their main points on the topic the
food pyramid.

Note: students will make groups of four. Each student will have a
different role: the coordinator, the writer, the speaker, and the
technologist.

At last, they will elaborate a PowerPoint presentation based on their
consolidated paragraphs about the food pyramid to show to the rest of the
class.

Framework Tools:

One drive tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi9WqMQjXko

Question #2
How is the food pyramid divided?
Observations: the teacher will instruct the students to make groups in order to
perform the activities. The teacher will provide the students some links for their
research on the food pyramid groups; such links will be already validated by the
teacher. Finally, the teacher will offer the students a tutorial video from

YouTube about the use of Montage.

Resources: computer, data show projector.
Applications: Google, Montage

Activities:
Students will get together in work groups, using the numbers technique
(1-4).
After designating roles (a coordinator, a writer, a technologist and 2
speakers), they will research from the internet about how the food
pyramid is divided. Here are some suggested links.
Following the research about the food pyramid groups, the students will
make a Montage about the food pyramid groups. To learn how to
elaborate a Montage, follow this link.
Once they have elaborated their Montage about the food pyramid groups,
students will share their findings with the rest of their classmates.

Question #3
What are the advantages of following the food pyramid?
Observations: the teacher will project the students a short clip about the
benefits of healthy eating. Followed by that, the teacher will request the students
to get together in groups to discuss, analyze and come up with a map of concepts
about the advantages of following the food pyramid. To conclude the activity,
the teacher will apply students a test to measure their knowledge and
understanding on the topic.

Resources: computer, data show projector
Applications: YouTube, CMap Tools

Activities:
Students will watch a short clip about the benefits of healthy eating
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58eFNxlLr5s.

In the same work groups, discuss and analyze the information shared
through the short clip. Then, make a map of concepts with the
information you watched from the short clip about the benefits of healthy
eating using CMap Tools. Follow this link for CMap Tools tutorial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhZvp2RwTzo .

Finally, the students will be applied an objective test (multiple choice) to
measure their understanding on the topic the advantages of following the
food pyramid.
