RBI Grade B(General) DR Exam Preparation

Phase I
In Phase I, concentrate on accuracy.
1) General Awareness
a) Any one/more of these monthly magazines (Pratiyogita Darpan, Economy at a Glance
by dhankar publications, CSAT Chronicle)
b) Newspaper(s) The Hindu, Economic Times
c) www.pib.nic.in (Click on More releases for day-wise news)
d) www.gktoday.in
e) Pratiyogita Darpan General Studies Indian Economy special edition.
f) www.mrunal.org

2) English, Quant, Reasoning
Solving previous year papers will suffice.

Phase II


1) Paper 1(English)
a) Argumentative essay Here choose the topic wisely as you need to give arguments
to support your statements you write. So by reading newspapers and magazines listed
for phase I, you will gain knowledge. You should also learn some quotations of great
people like Gandhi, Nehru etc about current events, example what they said about
food security, growth etc. You can also draw diagrams to make your essay look
different from others. Remember one most important thing NEVER criticize the
government or government schemes.
b) Precis writing and comprehension By solving the previous year papers.
c) Letter writing Browse the RBI website to know what are the format of circulars,
reports, letters etc, as RBI follows a fixed format, and knowing that format can give
you some extra points.


2) Paper 2(Economic and Social Issues)
In this paper you need good handwriting with good speed. Please note that you must
cover each and every topic given the syllabus.

Economics ( only macro-economics)
e) Selected reading from Pratiyogita Darpan General Studies Indian Economy special

i) Any one/more of these monthly magazines (Pratiyogita Darpan, Economy at a Glance
by dhankar publications, CSAT Chronicle)

Be through with the concepts like GDP,GNP, deficits, debt, inflation etc. In this
paper, whenever a question is asked, then start with the definition of that topic and
then pour down your knowledge in systematic manner. Example They asked a
question on Urbanization, now you should first define Urbanization in 4-5 lines, and
then continue with your answer. You can also draw the diagrams/flow-charts
wherever you may feel, to give a better presentation to your answer. If you are
writing your answer in points then do end with a conclusion. Do solve previous year
papers to gain confidence.

3) Paper 3(Finance and Management)

I) Finance Here the books are same as that for paper 2. Just complete each and
every topic given in syllabus.
II) Management Principles and Practice of Management L.M Prasad . In this
part of the paper, the questions are often repeated, so solve the previous year
papers.

How much to write (Golden Question)

Now RBI only specifies word limits for Paper 1(English), whereas no such limit is given for
Paper 2 and Paper 3. Here is what you may follow

For 10 marks questions Write one page both sides.
For 20 marks questions Write two pages both sides.

Though people may write more also, but I followed this answer writing-length this time.
