I hope to show you something behind the lens
behind the glass, into the twisted, simple fragments
of these things that I think.
I will show you my home-
the valleys and felds of Northern California,
the fre and fames of a friday night,
the forals of spring after
a retched, negative twenty degrees,
and the sun fying, fowing above it all.
Of an athlete, adrenaline rushing through her veins
as she hurtles over her mountains,
of a ghost town, my perspective- left alone for years
buried in secrets, a sullen sadness and tale of heartache
as the gold lived in the brush and a people did too.
I learned, these past few months
to stop, and be still, and remember
there is something bigger here
but something I learned the most:
Beautiful things dont ask for attention.

I told you hard things at the beginning of [this war]; you did not
shrink, and I should be unworthy of your confdence . . . if I did
not still cry:

Forward, unfinching, unswerving, indomitable, till the whole
task is done and the whole world is safe and clean.
