Weekl y Updat e: This week in Intermediate Literacy Review, students read the non- fiction story Horse Heroes. They have worked with new vocabulary words to help them understand the story, and have worked on comprehension strategies and reading skills. They have created questions while reading in a Q- Chart (Question Chart), asking who, what, when, where, how, and why questions. Students have completed Word Squares for each vocabulary word, where they write the word in a fun font, find the definition using the iPad Dictionary App, make a connection to the word, and illustrate how it would look. Students have been practicing their reading fluency by multiple readings of a passage, trying to improve on accuracy and expression. They continue to practice close reading and finding evidence to support their answers. Students continue to participate in choice reading every day, and have continued with their "Independent Reading Contracts" to demonstrate their comprehension.
