Summary: The purpose of this lesson is to introduce various types of
weather and discuss its effects on people and the land around them.
Given pictures, the students will be able to identify the type of weather
with 100% accuracy
Content Standard: Discuss how unique weather forces impact the
geography and population of a region or continent (hurricanes,
earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, drought).
Accomplishment: Students will gain an understanding of certain types
of weather and their effects.

Tornadoes
A tornado is a fast
rotating column of air
that reaches from a
thunderstorm to the
ground.

Hurricanes

A hurricane is
an intense tropical
storm with
powerful winds
and heavy rain.
Floods
A flood is the
submerging of
normally dry land by
an overflow of water.
Drought
A drought occurs when there is no
rain for a long period of time. In a
drought plants do not grow properly
and the water supply to homes and to
industry is limited.
Earthquakes
