PERSONNEL:

The department is seeing increased overtime
costs in the patrol division mainly due to
officer retirements,vacations, a newly hired
officer in the Field Training Program and
other related personnel matters.

PATROL:

On Monday patrol officers responded to a
residence on Freeman Road within the City
of Cloquet to a report of a family dispute.
During the dispute a 20 gauge shotgun was
brandished. No one was hurt during the
incident and a 23 year old Cloquet man was
arrested and jailed without incident. The
suspect was formally charged with Felony
Terroristic Threats and Assault in the Fifth
Degree. The suspect is currently being held
at the Carlton County Law Enforcement
Center.

Also on Monday of this week patrol
investigated a reported accident in the area
of Spring Lake Road and White Pine Trail
where a vehicle had left the road at what
appeared to be a high rate of speed, striking
a stop sign and a power pole. The suspects
fled the area failing to report the accident.
Evidence was collected at the scene, and the
following day two individuals came forward
stating they were involved in the accident
and left the scene because they were scared
but uninjured. Statements were taken and
the case was referred to the City Attorney's
Office for review of possible charges.



MISCELLANEOUS:

This week I met with representatives
from the Fond du Lac Reservation, St.
Louis County Sheriff's Department and
Carlton County Sheriff's Office as part
of the review committee set up through
our Cooperative Agreement. The
purpose is to discuss and resolve any
issues and/or concerns regarding the
agreement and the way we work
together to provide services.

Recently we have been having issues
with our squad car cameras and video
server. It was learned that updating our
squad car computers from Windows
XP (no longer supported) to Windows
7 has caused functionality issues. A
software update may be required to
resolve the issues and staff has been
working with the vendor (Panasonic).

Friday of this week several department
personnel attended the swearing in
ceremony of newly appointed Sixth
Judicial District Judge Leslie E. Beiers
at the Fond Du Lac Tribal and
Community College.
