ILAYANHON

OQUENDO PRIMARY SCHOOL

The title ILAYANHON is not by any means a tradition or custom nor a belief but simply a
local term reffered to the inhabitants of Oquendo living in the upland areas of the town. The term
is not unique to the place but also could be heard on other towns or provinces which also
reffering it to the upland location of the people where they make their living.

Ro bisaea nga Ilayanhon hay bukon it isaeang ka tradisyun o kun anu mang pagpati pero isea
nga simple nga bisaea nga gintawag sa mga gaistar sa kabukiran it Oquendo. Ro bisaea ngara
hay bukon man gid it halin sa lugar ngara pero puydi man mabatian sa ibang baranggay it ibang
kabanwahan nga parehas sa taga Oquendo mga tawo mang nagaistar sa bukid.

The presentation is more on an agricultural type where various products such as cassava root
crops, pia fiber and abaca fiber are being presented. These products are among the many
exported goods coming from the barangay to be delivered or sold to the mainland in exchange
for money.

Ro paguwa hay may temang pangkabuhian kung siin gingpakita ro sari saring produkto
pareha ko balinghoy, sug-uton, ag linabag. Raya nga mga produkto hay andang ginabaligya sa
banwa para pabayluhan it kwarta.

The presentation will partly touch on environmental issues specifically on the proper use of
resources, and partly showcase how rich and joyful their life in terms of fiesta, ordinary laundry
day, or just doing regular work and courtship.
