GETTING STARTED

6n a PC, click Start > Programs > Adobe > Photosho CS3! or click on the shortcut
on the desktop"

SETTING UP THE DOCU"ENT
Setting up !our document correctl! from the start will make !our 9ob much easier as !ou
work through !our pro9ect" #his will re:uire some advanced planning" 7or e*ample, if
!our final output will be a brochure, !ou ma! need to set up !our document to be
hori4ontal and double;sided"
#o create a new document, click F$&e > Ne'( #his will open the Do#)me%t Set) dialog

$ere !ou will be able to name !our file, set up the correct page si4e, and orientation for

Change the page si4e b! t!ping in new values for width and height" Page si4e
represents the final si4e !ou want after bleeds or trimming other marks outside the page"
In the Preset dropdown menu !ou can find such common si4es as letter, legal, tabloid,
etc" #!ping in e*act values for $eight and >idth gives !ou more control over the si4e
and orientation of !our page"

esolution is a number of pi*els on a printed area of an image" #he higher the
resolution, the more pi*els there are on the page, the better is the :ualit! of the image"
$owever, high resolution increases the si4e of the file" #he standard recommended
resolution for printed images is %+2 ; 322, for >eb images ; -2"
