The drug testing result for the member of female student basketball team, Miss

Julie Sarantini, on the presence of THC, an active ingredient found in marihuana, has
been further investigated. A concentration of THC in the urine exceeds 15ng/mL is
considered as be a positive result. In order to obtain the most accurate result, the
sample had been tested in two individual laboratories. Both of the laboratories ran 5
trials for the same sample to determine the average of the scores to minimize error.
Standard deviations for both data sets were also calculated to provide a range for more
precise result. The reports stated that the average concentration of THC was
15.8ng/mL (sdv.= 1.56ng/mL) and 15.2ng/mL (sdv.=0.53ng/mL). These reports stated
that the concentration of THC in the urine was definitely above 15ng/mL but the
standard deviations also indicated that there was a possibility the true value of THC
concentration was just below the threshold. Therefore, the result should be further
investigated before any announce should be made.
