DefinitionValue- The lightness or darkness of a color


Illuminate- light up, throw light on, brighten
Tangent- touching, but not intersecting
Plane- A way to describe the surface of a form
Light Source- The light that is illuminating the object
Reflected Light- Light that bounces off of objects in the environment and back onto the center
object
Shadow- Formed by the plane turning away from the light source
Cast Shadow- Caused by one form blocking the light from hitting another form
Core Shadow- A darker plane that defines the edge of the shadow
Occlusion Shadow- The darkest area of a cast shadow where reflected light cannot reach
Terminator- area where light turns to shadow
Halftone- An area of light immediately after the terminator, plane of the form that are partially
hit by the direct light
Center Light- The point of the form that points directly at the light, plane that is directly facing
the light source
Highlight- Reflection of the light source, Reflection will move depending on where the viewer is
Artistic License- The right as an artist to make the forms, light, and shadow how you want them
to look
