Our surrounding ecosystem consist of coconut trees, cashew
tree, banayan tree ,mango, jack fruit, papaya tree, cotton tree and etc.
The coconut tree are in majority among other trees in our surrounding. We find many animals like dogs, cats, cows, horse, sheep, goat kingfisher and many other animals.
Reptiles like snakes, lizards, garden lizards ad etc.
Insects like house fly, grasshopper, honey bee, mosquitoes, butterfly and etc.
Micro-organisms like fungi, algae, bacteria, etc. Food chains The transfer of energy from the source in plant through a series of organisms by eating and being eaten, constitutes food chain.
E.g.:- Grass-grass hopper-frog-snake-eagle Food Web The interconnection of food chain with each other forms food web.
The most obvious aspect of nature is that energy must pass from one living organism to another.
When herbivorous animals fee on plants, energy is transferred from plants to animals.
In an ecosystem, some of the animals feed on dead organic matter; they latter form the detritus food chain.
At each link in the chain, a large part of the energy from the food is lost through daily activities.
The Ecological Pyramids Each step of the food web is called a tropic level these tropic levels together form the ecological pyramid. In this pyramid, the green plants are at the first tropic level, herbivorous are at second tropic level and carnivorous are at third tropic level. Producers Plants are the producers in the ecosystem as they manufacture their own food from the sun. E.g.:-grass, plants and etc. Plants(producers) Grass(producers) Consumer The herbivorous animals are primary consumers as they live on the producers.
