Question: A single-phase distribution transformer, rated at 75KVA and 450-230V is supplying

rated KVA at 230V and 0.9 pf lagging. The percent resistance and percent reactance are 1.8 and
3.7, respectively. Determine-
(a) Transformer regulation
(b) Secondary voltage when the load is disconnected
(c) Input voltage that must be applied to the primary in order to obtain rated secondary
voltage when carrying rated load at 0.9 pf lagging.
Solution: Given,
%R = 1.8, %X = 3.7,

=
1.8

= 0.037
Pf = 0.9 lagging
cos = 0.9 lagging

(0.9) = 25.84
= 0.44
(a) As the XFR is operating at rated condition,

240

= 238.05 = ,

So, the no-load voltage is 238.05V (Ans)
