George did very well reading the first paragraph of Chapter 1 of The Da Vinci Code. Certain words were clearly new to him, such as tinny and hand-frescoed. He did try to sound them out as best he could. The most glaring issue, however, was the swapping of the last two words in the phrase Where the hell am I? George, instead, says Where the hell I am? which could be conducive to his L1 learning style and word arrangement in Czech. Also, the past tense turned was split up and an additional en ending was added. Several times the final consonant sound was omitted, such as in lamp and hand. Finally, when reading formal names of kings, queens, popes, etc. when a numerical value follows, an understood rule is to add the word the between the first name and the numeral. This was not included, although George did remember to add th to the end of sixteen when reading the Roman numerals.
