Sankalp Saxena's ecological footprint results show that his past lifestyle required 2 global hectares but the regenerative capacity was only 1.1 global hectares. Currently, his footprint is 1.4 global hectares while regenerative capacity is 0.8 global hectares. If his aspirations rise further to require 2 global hectares in the future, it would exceed the regenerative capacity of 1.1 global hectares and be unsustainable.

The results of my ecological footprint are as follows: Ecological Footprint Regenerative Capacity Past 2 global hectares 1.1 Present 1.4 Global hectares 0.8 Future 2 Global hectares 1.1
What these numbers mean: The result gives me a measure of the demand my lifestyle puts on earths ecosystems. The first column, ecological footprint, shows the amount of biologically productive land and sea area necessary to supply the resources that I consume. The second column gives an estimate of how much of the Earth (or how many planet Earths) it would take to support mankind if everybody followed my lifestyle. Implications: On an average, a world citizen has an eco-footprint of about 2.7 global average hectares while there are only 2.1 global hectare of bio productive land and water per capita on earth. This means that my past lifestyle at home and my aspirational lifestyle tread on the borderline of imminent danger for ecosystem. If my aspirations rise any further, and the entire world starts emulating my lifestyle, world population would overshoot global bio capacity and start living unsustainably by depleting stocks of Mother Nature. What efforts should I make to reduce or at least sustain this footprint remains to be seen!
