in October 1914, the allies were out numbered by the German army 2:1. Even with this un fair odds against the allies, they came through with there great military tactics. The Germans called the first battle Battle of Ypres, the massacre of innocents. This was because Germany sent out so many young volunteers to the battle and they had no chance against the Allies strong army. At the end the Allies held off the German Army from capturing Ypres.
