An angle is twice its
complement, what is the angle?
 Angle + complement = 90 degree.
 Complement = X

 Angle = 2x.

 2x +x =90.

 X = 30.

 Angle = 60 degree.

What is scalene triangle?
A triangle – none of whose sides are
equal is called scalene triangle.

 When 2 sides of a triangle are equal, it is

What is obtuse triangle?
 If one of the angle of a triangle is more
than 90 degree, it is called obtuse
triangle.

 Ifall the 3 angles of a triangle are less
than 90 degree, it is called acute triangle.

What is right triangle?
 Ifone of the angle is 90 degree, it is
called right triangle.

What is median?
A line drawn from the vertex (cone) of a
triangle to the opposite side, which
bisects the opposite side, is called
median. A median divides the triangle in
two equal parts. There are 3 medians in
a triangle. Centroid is the point of
intersection of these.

is length of EF?

degree, what is angle C of the
triangle?
 Totalof angles is 180 degree so the
angle C will be 110 degrees. (180 – 40-
30)

EB is 2. What is the sum of squares
of AB and AC?

 By theorem: AB^2 +AC^2 = 2(AE^2 +

bigger line is divided into two parts
AE and EB. What is measure of AE
and EB?
 Answer is 4 & 5 (angular bisector divides
lines in the ratio of remaining two lines)

Sum of all the angles of a regular
polygon is 2160. How many sides
does it has?
 Sum of all the angles =
 =90 (2n- 4)

 2160 = 90(2n-4)

 2n-4 = 2160/90 = 24

 2n-4 = 24 or 2n = 24+4 or 2n = 28.

 N = 28/2 = 14 or 14 sides. Answer.

A square garden is surrounded by a
footpath of 2 meters. Area of
footpath is 5/4 times that of the
garden. Find the area of the garden?

 Let us assume side of garden to be X. area


of garden = X^2.
 Area of footpath is (x+4)(x+4) – x^2
 X^2+8x+16 –x^2 = 5/4x^2
 8x+16 = 5/4 x^2 or 5x^2 = 32x+64
 5x^2 -32x-64 = 0
 5x^2 -40X +8x -64 = 0
 5x (X-8) +8(X-8) = 0 OR X = 8 OR -8/5 thus
area of garden is 8*8 = 64 answer.

One equilateral traiangle is put
inversely on another equal
equilateral triangle (with common
centre points - centroids). Find the
area superimposed by the first
triangle? Side of each triangle is 18
CM.
 Solution: it will form a hexagon. One side
of this hexagon will be 1/3 of a side thus
one side of this hexagon will be 6.
Hexagon is collection of 6 equilateral
triangles. Area = 6 *1.732/4 *6*6
 =93 sq. cm approx. answer.
