Message from Chairman

Yi Tricity Chandigarh Chapter

It has been great priviledge, honour and experience for
me to lead the Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter.

I have firm believe that

Yi Chandigarh Tricity
Chapter will be able to
raise the bar and scale it
up with every passing year
by breaking traditional
barriers and challenging
new frontiers.

Young Indians is a unique and amazing platform for

each one of us to contribute to the development of the
country. It leads the way in successfully showcasing to
the world, how a group of passionate, committed and
like minded individuals can contribute their energies in
realizing their dream of a developed nation.
In 2011-12 Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter had made
significant strides in the areas of environment, learning
and youth affairs

Highlights of the year 2011-12:

Participation of the chapter representative at the
G20 Summit in Nice, France
Yi Chandigarh e-waste project
1 new Yi net launched
Industry visit to Infosys for Yi net students
Guest speakers for the Yi net students
Blue Ocean dialogue with Yi net student
ClYick workshop for Yi net students
9 learning sessions for members
Packet of seeds with members
Retreat to wagah border
Health and eye check up and deworming camps
Yi Ludhiana Chapter Launch
Overall the chapter has done well in some areas and
in some we will do in future. The experience of being
a Co-Chair first and then the Chair has been a great
learning for me. Being at the G20 summit in Nice,
France has been an outstanding experience.
I lay down this office with the firm belief that Yi
Chandigarh Tricity Chapter will be able to raise the
bar and scale it up with every passing year by breaking
traditional barriers and challenging new frontiers.
I would like to wish all the best to the incoming
Chair Parul Pandey, who stood by me during my
chairmanship. I am confident that with the new
leadership taking over, Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter
will achieve the goals that have been set. I would
like to thank my EC team and Yi secretariat without
whom it would had been difficult to run the activities
of Yi throughout the year. Their support had been
remarkable.
WE CAN WE WILL
Regards,
Sameer Jain

Yi Annual Report 2011-12

G20 Experience
Young Indians (Yi), an
integral part of Confederation
of Indian Industry (CII),
was chosen to represent
India at the G20 Young
Entrepreneur Summit (YES)
at Nice, France in November
2011. It was a great honour
to be one of the 24 young
entrepreneurs chosen from
19 cities across India to join
400 others from the worlds
leading 20 economies to
pitch entrepreneurship as a
possible solution to the global
crisis to the Heads of G20
states. The G20 YES showed
how the youth could be a
part of a bigger plan, and how
they could collectively play
a part in shaping destinies of
millions of people around the
world. It also demonstrated
that when the young get
together, infinite possibilities
open up for a more equitable
and prosperous world.
It was great listening to
thought leaders like Shai
Agassi, Anand Mahindra,
Maria Panelli, and Xavier
Fontanet among others.
I was lucky to be picked
for a breakfast meeting
with Nobel Laureate Prof.
Muhammad Yunus, founder
of Grameen Bank. In just a
few minutes of interacting
with him, I realised there are
no barriers high enough if
we are determined to make
a difference, that we are only
bound by our self-imposed
limitations.
I have not only made friends
for life with a vibrant set of
enthusiastic entrepreneurs
from across India, my
participation in YES as a
Yi delegate brought me in
touch with, learn from, and
associate with great young
entrepreneurs from across
the G20 countries.

Message from Co-chair

Yi Tricity Chandigarh Chapter

Today the whole nation

is looking up towards the
youth, referring to them
as Our Demographic
Dividend, it is time that
youth across social and
geographic segments stands
up to the demands of the
nation.

As I reflect on the last few years of my association with

Yi, Im indebted to the whole Yi fraternity for opening
up a world of opportunities for me. Opportunity to make
a difference, opportunity to contribute, opportunity
to think large and out of box! It is almost addictive
to be around the charged up and passionate young
entrepreneurs & professionals who are optimistic to
the core. Yi National, last year has shown some path
breaking initiatives in global alliances, rediscovering our
culture and heritage, environment and innovation.
It is after four years of being part of Yi in various
capacities that I am now getting the opportunity to
lead the Yi Chandigarh Chapter in year 2012-2013.
With humility and commitment Im going to be taking
the baton on from Sameer who also took it on from
extremely promising predecessors like himself in a
nutshell, there is a huge legacy already that I would
need to match up to!
Heres what I have, to begin with: an amazing team of
vertical chairs and co-chairs, a great set of Yi members
and the power packed group of student nets! In the
coming year, while well all work to take the ongoing
Chapter and National initiatives forward, well have a
special focus on Employability in India.
Yi Chandigarh chapter would closely work towards
building employability skills of youth including those
from the marginalized sections.Fortunately for us,
there are huge synergies between CIIs initiatives and
our goal of enhancing employability. We look forward to
leveraging our seniors experiences.
WE CAN WE WILL

Message from Chairman

CII Chandigarh Council

Dear Young Indians,
During my Chairmanship of CII Chandigarh Council for
2011-12, we had the priviledge of working closely with
Yi Tricity Chandigarh Chapter members. We appreciate
your spirit of We Can We Will in whatever you do.

In my opinion, the mission

of Young Indians is just
that. Yi aims to inspire,
motivate and educate the
youth towards nation
building.

Youth have the unmatched energy, creativity and

untapped potential to reverse the trends, if provided
with the right opportunities and support. The future lies
in the young leaders initiatives. We must nurture the
leadership qualities of youth. The nation today looks
towards young leaders, from different walks of life to
play an active role in the development of India.
My compliments to Yi Tricity Chandigarh Chapter for
successfully launching the first ever E-waste project
amongst all Yi Chapters. It has a wider reach now with
the recently launched new chapter in Ludhiana and the
new Student Net in Corporate Gurus. The Chapter did
remarkable work in the health vertical by conducting
health & eye check up camps and deworming
campaigns.
Congratulations to Sameer for leading the team of
dedicated young achievers of Chandigarh along with
Parul.
I convey my best wishes to the Yi Tricity Chandigarh
Chapter for their future initiatives and congratulate
each and every member of the Yi Chandigarh Chapter
for their commitment and contribution. With the
igniting passion and strong determination, the CII team
is sure, Yi would continue to work towards shaping a
better India.
Best regards,
Vikram Hans

Change is both individual and collective, We should

think, act and be inspired. The concept of Satyagraha
innovated by Gandhiji is viable even after 64 years of
independence. Its not the whole country one needs
to take care of, as a individual we should just be
responsible of the 50 yards around oneself and all shall
be taken care of. We all have spark, we just need to ignite
it and channelize all the energies in the right direction.
Time is now to fold in your future and effect the change,
rather than being a spectator. Chapter Review for year
