Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice.
The Literature Review that I completed for ITEC 7470 reflects mastery of standard 6.1 professional growth and development. The literature review not only gave me the opportunity to look at the ethics and rationale behind research studies, but it also taught me how to determine the validity of reference material cited in a resource. It is easy to get bogged down in all the information that is out in Cyberspace about instructional technology practices. This project helped me to discern the components of valid research methods. The process of continual learning is vital to the success of instructional technology coaches. Technology is continuously being updated, revamped, and changed. It is important for an effective technology coach to stay abreast of current updates and trends and to discern which new technologies have validity, and what is just a passing trend and will not make a lasting impact on student achievement. The impact this experience had on my school and future classrooms is the reminder of the importance of being a continual life-long learner in order to assist my students in achieving their full potential. I will continue to pursue professional development opportunities that will help grown and expand the skill set needed to insure growth and achievement of students.
