Extensive experience, top level service orientation, and a wide range of products enables Arkal to offer custom for its customers. Serving 90% of the world's agricultural, landscaping, and micro-irrigation market, the advantages of our optimum product quality entail a significant reduction in the use of backwash water and enhanced production yields, which are highly valued by our customers. One of Arkal's outstanding advantages comes into effect while treating surface and seawater with high levels of biological matter. Arkal's patented Spin Klin’ filtration technology integrates modular, flexible, and corrosion-resistant polymeric materials meeting British, French, and American drinking water standards, in addition to ISO 9001. 16 Media Filters AGF 4 2 ry g : rs a cy 4 A i a i A - 3 £ : 4 a a) Water y Disc Filtration Technology Standard Feature: = Micron-precise filtration of solids ‘= Innovative depth filter design traps and retains large amounts of solids = Long-term operation with minimal maintenance or cleaning Arkal's distinctively developed disc filtration technology operates using thin, color- coded polypropylene discs of a specific micron size. The discs are diagonally grooved on both sides, in opposite directions. A series of discs are stacked and compressed on a specially designed spine. Filtration Technologies ‘The grooves of any two adjacent discs, pressed together, create a series of crossing points which form multiple particle traps. In the filtration process, the force of the spring along with the differential pressure firmly compresses these discs together providing exceptional filtration efficiency. Filtration occurs as water percolates from the outer diameter to the inner diameter of the filter element. Depending on the micron rating, there are multiple crossing points in each track, creating distinctive in-depth filtration. During filtration, the discs are compressed by means of preloaded spring and differential pressure, forcing the water to pass through the grooved discs surface, thus trapping the solids. Backwash Proces: Activated by a predefined time command or differential pressure, the system enters backwash mode. The inlet valve port shuts as the drain port opens. During the backwash process, pressure is released and the spine's piston rises, releasing the compression on the discs. Tangential jets of clean water are then forced through the nozzles positioned along the spine. At this stage the discs spin freely, loosening the trapped solids which are then flushed out. ‘ Backwash Mode Filtration Technologies Filtration Technologies Screen Filtration Technology Arkal Screen Line Filters Screen filters can be manufactured in almost any size and are commercially available in a ‘wide range of flow rates. ‘Screens are made either of a woven mesh, perforated plates, or wedge wire construction. A screen filter is @ surface filter with one retention layer for solids. As dirty water flows through the filter vessel from the inside to the outside of the screen the larger particles are prevented from passing and are contained on the screen. Woven Screen Perforated Screen Wedge Wire Screen Screen sizes available range from 3000 to 50 micron The effective filtration area of a screen filter can be rather high and the initial clean headloss quite low. Nevertheless, the DP can build up, necessitating an effective cleaning schedule. Vacuum Scanner Cleaning A rotating vacuum scanner sucks the "filter cake", off the screen without making actual physical contact with it. The rotation and linear movement of the scanner allow it to reach every part of the screen in minimal time. This mechanism is very effective and does not damage the screen. Rotating Brush Cleaning A brush rotates over the screen element dislodging the “filter cake” and a purge valve flushes the dirt out through a drain while the system is pressurized. Outlet t Drain Drain Sand Media Technology AGF Filter Principl = Pressurized Sand Media filters operate by separating the suspended materials in unfiltered water as it flows through a bed of media in a pressurized tank. = The recommended filter media are crushed basalt, quartz sand, AFM and other catalytic media. These have varying orifice sizes and cause the water to flow through a maze of passages on its way through to the media bed, from the inlet to the outlet of the filter. Due to the large volume and contact area between the water and the media particles, various physical forces go into effect and act to retain the contaminating particles. ‘The efficiency of large particle retention is high as long as the media is kept clean. The catalytic media type applies additional chemical-physical attraction forces between the media and particles, especially those of organic nature, giving more efficient organic material removal. In addition, the round shaped particles degrade more quickly and their cleaning requires less water in comparison with other media types. tration Process During the filtration process water enters the media filter system through the inlet manifold. It is cleaned by flowing through the media and is then discharged through the outlet manifold. During filtration, the inlet ports are open and backwash ports are closed. Water flows from the top, over the distributor plate, then down through the media layer to the outlet, through the diffuser nozzles located in the bottom part of the filter Backwash Process During the backwash process, the inlet valve port closes and the backwash port opens, allowing reverse water flow into the filter. Clean, filtered, pressurized water (from the other filters or a filtered water storage tank) flows into the bottom of the filter, lifting and fluidizing the media and releasing the accumulated dirt and debris, which is then flushed out through the backwash valve and into the backwash manifold. If the backwash restriction valve is adjusted properly, the debris will be flushed out of the filter while the media, being of a higher density than the debris, will remain fluidized in the fier tank.
