The article gives the idea that standardized tests is useful for the schools and

students receive best education and gives three reasons to support this idea. H
owever, the lecturer does not agree with this idea and challenges each reason.
First, the article claims that having these tests will ensure that the schools e
mphasize appropriately on the course needed to pass the tests. However the lectu
rer does not agree with this point as teachers at various schools have different
styles of teaching. He explains that these standardized tests forces the teache
rs into teaching a particular part as instructed by them. Rather than improving
the situation it inhibits the progress of the students who have different intere
sts.
Second, the article posits that the schools which get better results are rewarde
d and others receive aid to improve. The lecturer says that this is not the case
as the performance of the school decides how much money is given to the school.
He explains that better the result of the school more money the receive and the
schools who suffer not because of teaching but the rough environment in which t
he students live are not taken into consideration and they continue to struggle.
Third, the article also claims that students who do not perform well will receiv
e help to improve themselves. The lecturer claims that the situation is not that
straightforward because not everyone is good at test taking. He says that there
are different types of schools with different types of students are put under a
common test. There might be cases where the students does not deal with the pre
ssure or is ill or testing poorly. The situation of these students is not consid
ered and they are not helped by allowing them to go to the next grade.
