His Early Life

Jackie Robinsons full name was Jack
Roosevelt Robinson.

He was born on January 31, 1919 in
Cairo, Georgia.

basketball, and baseball.
Life During Baseball

Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson to
the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1945.

While going to away games, Robinson
couldnt stay in the same hotel as his
teammates.

He was often shunned by his
teammates and fans of the Dodgers.
Achievements in Baseball

Jackie Robinson had 12 home runs after
his rst season.

During his rst season he got 29 steals
and the Rookie of the Year award.

In 1949, he was chosen as the National
Leagues Most Valuable Player of the year
(MVP).

Jackie Robinson was inducted into the
Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.

His wife, Rachel Isum, founded the Jackie
Robinson Foundation after he died.

In 1997, Robinsons number, 42, was
permanently retired by every team in
Major League Baseball.
