Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration

The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take

responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families,
colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner
growth, and to advance the profession.
Name of Artifact: Professional Development Strategies
Date: April 2014
Course: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education
Brief Description:
In this assignment I list five things I would like to achieve in order to grow
professionally and become more proficient in communicating with students and
their parents. These strategies all relate to cultural barriers such as language or
lack of knowledge about holidays and celebrations that occur in other
countries/cultures.
Rationale:
To document my understanding of InTASC Standards #10, Leadership and
Collaboration, I have selected to include my list of strategies which will hopefully
help me to grow professionally, because this list contains some difficult yet
necessary goals. To have similarities and form bonds with students to gain their
trust, a teacher must know some background about a student, and be able to relate
that information to something similar he/she has went through. When a teacher is
approachable to a student, and a student feels able to confide in a teacher with any
information, then learner growth is able to occur.
