Last February 22, 2013, the film entitled: March of the Penguins was shown to us
during our Biology 3 class. It is a documentary about how penguins overcome the
difficulties of finding a mate and reproducing at their harsh environment.
The movie was very educational. Many people only have a little knowledge
about the penguins, especially by how they reproduce. The whole process of the
penguins mating was explained in a very different way. The narrator gave not only
scientific facts but emotions as well. The viewers could easily understand the film for he
used light words for the audiences easier understanding. He described every detail
from the marching of the penguins until the time of leaving its offspring.
Also, the film is very inspiring. Considering the harsh environment surrounding the
penguins, it is almost impossible to produce young penguins, but as shown at the
documentary, the penguins have their unique ways of procreating among themselves.
The penguins know how to find a mate, to care and protect their egg and survive the
lurking dangers around them. Although many lose their offspring, the number of young
produced is more than the ones who were killed by the extreme weather or scarcity of
food.
All in all, it was a magnificent movie. It showcased how the penguins maintain
life at one of the harshest environment on planet Earth.
