General Procedures
The School Day
Teachers are salaried employees. The expectation is that you are prepared to receive students when
they are released to the hallways at 8:20. Be at your door to receive students at 8:20. All teachers are
to arrive in time to have all of their pre-school classroom maintenance done prior to the 8:20 bell.
Therefore all teachers are to be in the buildin! by 8:"0 a.m. to provide the best possible supervision
and early mornin! opportunities for learnin! for our students. The door to the #

Tardies:

Teachers are to teach bell to bell.

Brea$s are allowed for non-certified employees accordin! to wa!e and labor acts. They are !iven for

Bulletin boards are an intricate part of the school climate. Dor this reason they should be chan!ed

The wee$ly bulletin will be sent from the >eadership Team or .rs. /oc$rell electronically. A hard

sent are the actual dates of the suspension. The student will return the day after the last day list as
suspension.

The /MA1T form meets the '/ le!al reHuirement that any student who is functionin! below !rade
level be provided a 5-5. Any student who is at ris$ of not meetin! a promotion standard is to have a
/MA1T form completed. This must be maintained throu!hout the school year. The parent must be
notified of its creation. Any student who was retained or placed in the next !rade without meetin! all
promotion standards should have a /MA1T form started immediately.
,f a parent cannot attend a /MA1T conference a J5ersonal -ducation 5lanL letter will be
mailed home alon! with a copy of the /MA1T.
:lass Scae
/lass +cape is an online database of testin! items that are ali!ned with the '/ +tandard /ourse of
+tudy. ,t is an important means of collectin! data for appropriate benchmar$in! of our students.
/ommunication s$ills mathematics and ei!hth !rade science classes are expected to utiliOe /lass
+cape freHuently. /lass +cape is not an option. 0'ew$ir$2

/lass sets of documents or any set totalin! 2* or more copies should be made on the 1iso!raph. The
more the 1iso!raph is utiliOed the more money that stays in our !eneral fund. Any malfunction of a

- Teachers are responsible for ensurin! that all reHuired items are in the cumulative records of
their students.

door. There are no vents on the hallway.

-xterior doors are loc$ed at 8:&0 everyday and should not be opened or propped at any time durin! the
school day. +tudents should never open an exterior door for a visitor.

Dield trips are a valuable teachin! strate!y when well planned and ali!ned with the +tandard /ourse of
+tudy. -ach !rade level or combined !rade levels will plan their field trips for the entire year as early
as possible in the school year. The field trip reHuest forms are in the Dorms +ection of your handboo$.

,t is very important to maintain professional inte!rity in our !radin! process. +tudents should
be !iven !rades for academic exercises only. -ach teacher should have at least "8 !rades recorded
each A wee$s. =rades should not be !reatly inflated by !ivin! !rades for such thin!s as brin!in!
classroom supplies and ball!ame attendance.
=radin! is to reflect the studentIs mastery of the content as outlined in the +tandard /ourse of
+tudy. +tudents who are ma$in! AIs ? BIs are considered to be wor$in! above !rade level. They
would be expected to score a >evel & or ) on the -3=. /Is are considered to be at !rade level while
;Is and DIs are below !rade level. A student who ma$es a / would be considered to be borderline
passin! on the -3= especially if it is below an 80 avera!e. ,n short classroom !radin! should be an
accurate predictor of -3= performance.
+tudents and parents should see the !rades that a child ma$es reflected in !rade boo$s and
pro!ress reports. At the conclusion of each !radin! period no child should have a final !rade below a

should be noted. Also any video that is bein! used should be included.
