Introduction to the workshop

At the beginning of the workshop we had initially thought about evaluating the websites of two enterprises:
One Hotel in Dalmine ( http://www.one-hotel.it/ ) and Gruppo Guide Turistiche Citt di Bergamo e
Provincia ( http://www.bergamoguide.it/). The One Hotel in Dalmine receives mainly business guests, who
are not used to reserve directly from the website. While the tourist guides are facing both managerial
problems and technological problems with their website
Then, since some of us are already working in the tourism industry, thanks to their connections, we added
three more websites to our list, starting from Promoisola (http://www.isolabergamasca.org/), the website of
the consortium which brings together twenty-one municipalities in the province of Bergamo, with the aim of
promoting the territory and increasing tourism in the area; B&B Bergamo City (http://www.bb-
bergamocity.com/), which represents a group of ten apartments located in the centre of Bergamo. Lastly, we
added the website of the Borgo Santa Giulia (http://www.borgosantagiulia.com/), a small enterprise in the
Franciacorta area, where it is possible to find a wine cellar, a restaurant, a relais and a pub. The managers are
planning to launch the new version of this website by the end of the year.
The small and medium enterprises we considered are very different from one another, thus their websites
must be developed in order to respond in the best possible way to the different needs of the customers of
those companies.
