Seven people around the world have been arrested in connection wi


th an international cybercrime ring that illegally accessed 1,600 Stub
Hub accounts and stole more than $1.6 million in tickets.
Authorities still dont know how the suspects gained access to the acc

StubHub, a website where customers buy and sell tickets to entertain
ment events, 2rst discovered that more than 1,000 accounts had been
breached in !arch 5016. Soon a&ter, the company alerted police, who
started an investigation.
Authorities say they soon learned that two men, $adim 7olyakov, 60, a
nd -ikolay !atveychuk, 51, were allegedly buying the tickets illegally,
then e)mailing them to three Americans, "aniel 7etrys8yn, 59, ,auren
ce :rinkmeyer, 5;, and :ryan #aputo, 5;. According to $ance, the thr
ee men then resold the tickets and worked with several people, includ
ing Sergei <irin, 6=, o& >ussia, to launder the money using internation
al wire trans&ers and 7ay7al.
<irin is accused o& advertising his money)laundering services online a
nd turning a pro2t &or his part in the ring.
Analysts in the district attorneys o?ice investigated receipts and tran
saction records and eventually traced the e*changes to +nternet proto
col addresses, 7ay7al accounts, bank accounts and other 2nancial acc
ounts used and controlled by the suspects.

Authorities said 7olyakov and !atveychuk bought more than 6,C00 tic

ay. 7eople across the world were victims o& the scam, the law en&orce
ment agencies said.
7olyakov was arrested on %uly 6 while vacationing near :arcelona. 7et
rys8yn and #aputo were taken into custody in the -ew .ork area 'ed
nesday and went be&ore a Budge. :rinkmeyer, o& :ergen #ounty, -.%., is
e*pected to surrender in the coming days, $ance said.
Although !atveychuk and <irin remain in >ussia, authorities are hopi
ng they will be brought to Bustice, $ance said.
He added that o?icials believe they have identi2ed the primary actors
in the scam though the investigation continues.
