Objective: Student will be able to complete a story map including plot, setting, theme, characters, conflict, climax, rising and falling actions, and solution. This lesson should be a review and practice, not the first time a story map is introduced to the students. Materials: Computer with speakers, projector, The Lorax DVD, blank story map Lesson: Review the components of the story map in a discussion with whole class allowing students to raise their hands to answer for each component. Pass out the worksheet with the story map on it and allow students a moment to look over the map. Introduce to students that they will watch the movie and fill in the story map. Play the movie. After the movie discussion time is optional, depending on time frame. Give students a bit of time to finish up last minute fill in on their worksheet and hand the worksheet in. ISTE Standards: 1.C.
