THIS is not just any triathlon story, this is a Marks & Spencer triathlon story. Gibraltar's Chris Walker - at the
grand old age of 47 - finished a distant 26th, some 21 minutes behind winner Alistair Brownlee.
Walker, whose day job is running a M&S branch on 'The Rock', was delighted to fly the flag for the amateurs.
But it was his interaction with the crowd that was really endearing as he completed the course in sweltering
conditions - something many of his younger rivals failed to do. 'The crowd pulled me through,' a delighted
Walker told Metro. 'Coming down that last hill towards the finish, I felt like the winner, I felt like Alistair
Brownlee. I've done a lot of triathlons over the years but this one will top the lot.' Walker will return to his
rather more sedate day job knowing he can still mix it with the best in the world.
