BCG Vaccine
Given any time at birth

Tuberculosis (TB)
Intra-dermal (ID) route on
Right Outer Upper Arm
Abscess is expected on
the injected site (confirms
the effectiveness of the
vaccine)
Never press the injected
site
Penta (Pentavalent) Vaccine
Given at 1 month, 2 months,
and 3 months after birth
Protection from DPT (Diptheria,
Pertussis or nagging cough,
Tetanus), Hepatitis B, and Influenza
Intra-muscular route on Right/Left
Vastro lateralis muscles
Fever is expected as a side effect,
but will subside within 24 hours
after the administration; the child
may take anti-pyretic (Paracetamol)
as a remedy
Apply warm compress on the
injected site to prevent
swelling/inflammation
OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine)
Given at 1 month,
2 months, and 3
months after birth
with Penta vaccine
Protection from Polio
myelitis
Oral route (2 drops)
Expect no side effects
Measles Vaccine
Given at 9 months after
birth
Protection from measles
Subcutaneous route on
Left Outer Upper Arm
To be given with Vitamin A
(to augment the
effectiveness of the
vaccine)

Vaccine
Given at 12-15 months
after birth
