The bar chart provides an overview of the number of people recruited to various types of

job by gender in Australia in 2003.


Overall, there were seven job types involved in the survey, namely managers,
professionals, semi professionals, tradepersons, production, clerical and laborers.
nterestingly, for most of the positions, more males were employed than females, apart
from professionals and clerical.
n detail, of all job types, clerical field generally witnessed the highest number of
employed persons with appro!imately "#0 000 women and nearly "00 000 men.
$owever, there were even more men choosing to wor% as tradepersons than any other
jobs with attendances reaching "00 000s, followed by managers, professionals and
production with about &00 000s for each. nterestingly, such hot jobs amongst men as
tradepersons and production seemed not to be highly appreciated by women as figures
reaching only '00 000 for each, the lowest numbers of female wor%ers. (esides, there
were also other job types that attracted a number of women wor%ing, professionals and
semi professionals for instance, with appro!imately )00 000s and 3#0 000s respectively.
To sum up, while women and men in Australia seemed to have a similar choice when it
came to clerical and professionals, other job types e!perienced a huge gap between the
two se!es* occupations.
