The software uses digital certi7cates. These digital certi7cates con7rm the identity of Internet users sending E.F2@ standard encrypted information. They also can be used to digitally sign 7les and macros, to verify the integrity and origin of the 7le contents. The software retrieves certi7cates and updates certi7cate revocation lists over the Internet, when available. "uto 6oot &pdate. The "uto 6oot &pdate feature updates the list of trusted certi7cate authorities. %ou can switch oA the "uto 6oot &pdate feature. indows Media ;igital 6ights Management. 5ontent owners use indows Media digital rights management technology ,M;6M. to protect their intellectual property, including copyrights. This software and third party software use M;6M to play and copy M;6M-protected content. If the software fails to protect the content, content owners may ask Microsoft to revoke the softwareCs ability to use M;6M to play or copy protected content. 6evocation does not aAect other content. hen you download licenses for protected content, you agree that Microsoft may include a revocation list with the licenses. 5ontent owners may re9uire you to upgrade M;6M to access their content. Microsoft software that includes M;6M will ask for your consent prior to the upgrade.
