Appointed Official a leader who works for the citizens and has been chosen by
another official who is in charge
Elected Official a leader who works for the citizens and is elected, or picked
by the citizens
Election a time when citizens can vote for the leader they think
should become their elected official
Citizens people who live in a city, state, or country
Services things that the government provides for citizens, such as
building roads or opening schools
Taxes money that must be paid by citizens to the government.
