L'hermneutique ou l'art de l'interprtation est une question qui

remonte par son origine tymologique , la philosophie grecque , Ce
terme a pris , historiquement une grande volution smantique ,
surtout avec la philosophie mdivale . Rappelons qu cette poque
il est devenu une mthode de recherche de mcanismes et de rgles
de comprhension de l'criture sainte (lEvangile), ce qui a fait de
l'interprtation une mthode de comprhension juste et mme exacte
. Mais ds lavnement de l'poque moderne , l'interprtation a pris
une nouvelle dimension ; elle est considre comme une mthode de
comprhension objective dans le domaine des sciences humaines .
Cela constitue en quelque sorte une critique et une raction contre
ceux qui conoivent que la mthode exprimentale reprsente le
modle idal et essentiel daccs toute connaissance objective.
Dans ce contexte intervient la vision contemporaine de la philosophie
allemande en tant que rsultat de la crise qui s'est dgage des
sciences humaines , et qui a vu dans l'interprtation l'issue de cette
mme crise . Elle la conoit alors comme procd de substitution de
la mthode exprimentale , ce qui a t revendiqu par la
phnomnologie . Dans le cadre de ce conflit mthodologique et
pistmologique apparat linterprtation philosophique de Gadamer
comme une participation la solution de cette crise des sciences ,
car le philosophe a mis en confrontation deux points de vues
contradictoires : le point de vue pistmologique et le point de vue
ontologique .
En essayant de Comprendre linterprtation Gadamerienne et ,
travers elle, la comprhension dans ses deux aspects : sus-cits ,
nous aboutissons divers rsultats que nous rsumons en trois
domaines principaux qui sont : le domaine de la conscience

esthtique , le domaine de la conscience historique et le domaine du

langage .
En ce qui concerne le domaine de lart nous pouvons conclure
que la comprhension de lautre , daprs ses uvres dart ne
dpend pas ncessairement du point de vue mthodologique et
objectif mais , doit se baser sur la participation pour comprendre son
exprience de la vie travers ses uvres , et partant la
comprhension de lexistence humaine. Cest cela qui lui confre sa
dimension ontologique. En dautres termes, linterprtation reprsente
un processus de dvoilement de la vrit plutt quune mthode.
De ce point de vue , lart est peru comme une exprience
porteuse de lexprience humaine de lexistence qui ne peut se
dvoiler que par une interaction avec luvre dart , et llimination de
la distance distance naissante de la vision mthodologique
objective par la participation et lactualisation de cette exprience
pour la rendre intelligible .
En ce qui concerne la consquence que nous pouvons en tirer
, dans le domaine de la conscience historique , nous citons
lhistoricit de la comprhension comme maxime de lopration
interprtative et par l , la rhabilitation de la tradition et travers elle
les prjugs , le mythe et le pouvoir. Tout cela constitue le refus des
principes des lumires pour arriver lobjectivit , qui se ralise par
lloignement de la subjectivit . Autrement dit , il ny a pas de
comprhension objective ni de sens absolu, mais il y a une
comprhension subjective et un sens relatif constamment renouvel
qui se ralise par le dialogue .
Dautre part , dans le domaine du langage et sa relation avec
linterprtation nous concluons , que celle-ci se base essentiellement
sur le langage , parce que la langue nest plus considre comme un
outil dexpression car elle est porteuse de lexistence , c'est--dire ,
elle porte lexprience humaine , et devient ainsi lexistence digne de
comprhension , ce qui lui confre sa dimension universelle .
Enfin linterprtation devient comprhension de lexistence
humaine et dvoilement de la vrit ; ce qui signifie quelle
outrepasse le point de vue mthodologique cognitif qui concerne les
sciences humaines .

Hermeneutics is the art of interpretation and it is considered as

one of the oldest philosophical issues . Its etymological origin goes
back to the Greek philosophy . Nevertheless , this term doesnt take
its real philosophical dimensions only within the medieval philosophy
and becomes a method of research of rules and criteria for
understanding the sacred text " the Gospels" which makes
interpretation a method of accurate comprehension . However, with
the beginning of modern times , interpretation takes a new dimension;
it is stated as a method of objective comprehension in the field of
human sciences . This constitutes a reaction and a criticism against
those who conceive that the experimental method represents the
unique and the experimental access to any objective knowledge . And
in this context , the contemporary vision of the German philosophy as
a consequence of the crisis that is resulted from human sciences
which sees in interpretation as an exit to this crisis . It is conceived as
a process of substitution of the experimental method , which is
claimed by phenomenology . In the frame of this methodological and
epistemological conflict emerge the philosophical interpretation of
Gadamer as a participation to put an end of this crisis of sciences ,
because Gadamer opposed two points of view: The epistemological
point of view and the ontological point of view.
To understand the interpretation of Gadamer and the process
of comprehension in its two aspects : epistemological and ontological
can read us to many results that can be resumed in three main fields :

the field of esthetic conscience , the field of historical conscience and

the field of language .
Concerning the field of art we deduce that the comprehension
of the other , according to his works of art , dont depend necessarily
on methodological and objective point of view , but must be based on
the participation for understanding his experience in life through his
works of art , and the comprehension of the human existence . Thats
which confer to it its dimension ontological . In other words ,
interpretation represents a process of unveiled truth rather than a
method.
Therefore , Art must be seen as a human experience that
carries mans experience of existence which cannot be unveiled only
with the interaction of the works of art ; and thus the eradication of the
gap the gap born of the methodological objective vision through
the participation and the actuality of this experience in order to
become intelligible .
Concerning the field of historical conscience , It is the
historicism of the understanding as the main interpretation process
and the rehabilitation of tradition and through it prejudices , myths and
authority . All these constitute the refusal of the principles of
enlightenment to achieve objectivity that cannot be achieved only if
we move away from subjectivity . In other words , There is no
objective understanding and absolute meaning , but there is
subjective understanding and relative meaning that can be achieved
through conversation.
In the field of language and its relation with interpretation we
conclude that , it is based essentially on language as it is no longer
considered as a means of expression since it carries the existence : it
carries the human experience , and thus becomes the existence
worthy of understanding which provides it a universal dimension .
To sum-up , interpretation becomes understanding the human
existence and unveiled truth which means that it goes beyond the
methodological cognitive point of view that concerns human sciences
