ENC 1101
Process Memo Heuristic Paper 3
I decided to write about the Boston Red Sox and the journey that one of their
fans takes over the course of one year to the next. The character deals with internal
issues revolving himself and his family as he wishes for his team to win a world
championship for the first time in 81 years.
I used heavy description to show just what type of people my characters were.
The setting was described to the readers when necessary as well. Because the story
was told mostly from recollection, present setting was overlooked.
I created tension within my short story on numerous occasions. Tension was
brought about when the police informed the protagonist of the fathers passing, and
when Tess was about to find out whether or not she was accepted to NYU.
The protagonist (whos name is never mentioned) wants his team to win the
World Series. He also wants to go into sports management, and to go to SUNY
Cortland. His main wish, however, is for his father to stop drinking.
My character gets into tough situations with his father and he tries to leave his
situation as much as he can to avoid his father. In regards to the wanting of his
sports team to do well, he cant really control that.
My character learns to come to peace with his father after he passes away, and
his team is also is granted the title of World Series Champions in 2004.
The meaning of my story is to always come to peace with those who are close to
you. No matter what anyone is going through, if you love them, you should help
them and be good to them while they are here. You never know when something can
change in a second, and your life is altered completely.
