Meanings Of Lab Symbols

First Aid.This symbol should be placed near all first aid kits to show
workers where the kits are located during an emergency.
Biohazards. This sign should be hung in biology and microbiology
labs where harmful pathogens and bacteria are used. Biohazards are any living
organism that cab cause harm to humans.
Radioactive. Warn people that there may be radioactivity in the area.
This sign is usually brighter than other lab safety symbols to warn you from a
distance about the the radioactive waves.
Danger. The danger symbol has dual purposes it is used as a warning
for danger and also as a symbol for poison.
Eye Safety. Use this safety symbol when there is a danger to eyes
present. It signifies that goggles or other protective eye gear should be worn in the
area.
Sharp Objects. Place this symbol wherever sharp objects such as
needles,knives and scalpels are being used. It is a reminder to think safe while
using sharp objects.
Hazardous Fumes. Warns that chemicals in use can cause toxic
fumes either by themselves or when mixed together with other chemicals.
Open Flame. This symbol is used when an open flame could cause
combustibles to catch on fire or become explosive.
