Movement Games

Musical hugs: Children dance. When the music stops, teacher yells a number, and the children
form groups of that number and hug until the music turns back on. Children who are left out,
leave the game.
Musical statues: The children dance until the music stops. Then they freeze in their place.
Stuck in the mud: 1 of the children is the catcher, if child is caught, it stands still with legs apart.
If another child goes through his legs, he is freed. The game can have a time limit.
Chain Mime: Children sit in a circle. A Child is the mime. The 1

child taps the shoulder of the
child on his right, and shows him the gesture. The child repeats the process until the circle is
complete.
Crossing the circle: The Children sit in a circle and the leader gives everyone a number from 1 to
3. Then the leader tells all the 1s to exchange places by crossing the circle and then all the 2s to
cross the circle and so on. When the children understand what to do, the leader calls out
different ways for them to cross the circle :for example as toddler, frail old man, lion, mouse,
roller blade, ballerina, rock star, princess, superman, rally car etc.
