COLD MILK DURING HIGH TEA

There were two trials done for serving cold milk at all messes during High tea. The first trial began
with the introduction of coupons, for 110ml of milk.
On the basis of recommendations of Mess Committes, the restriction of quantity on cold milk was
removed, along with introduction of Bournvita and Almond Mix for an increase In price by Rs4.95 on
a daily basis.
As a result of excessive injudicious consumption and wastage of milk and bournvita at all messes, the
unlimited milk facility is going to be withdrawn at all Food Court, Annapoorna and Adithya messes.
This is also a result of misuse of mess facilities by non-members at all messes.
Excessive consumption of milk has caused an imbalance and Chef on Wheels have decided to
withdraw the increased high tea facilities with the mess rates reduced by Rs4.95
We are trying to ensure that the increased high tea facilities are continued at all messes with
standardisation in the amount of milk and Bournvita at all messes.

Some of the statistics presented by Chef on Wheels (for Annapoorna Mess)
Daily Consumption of milk (during high tea) : 220 litres
Consumption of Bournvita : 19kg
Cost of milk per litre :Rs 32
Cost of Bournvita :Rs 380 (Due to recent increase in Bournvita price)

While the amount of milk consumed during breakfast at any mess is 40 litres, the quantity of milk
used during high tea alone is too much.
Adding to this, the price for Almond Mix and Sugar , the per day expense for a user at Annapoorna
mess (1400 members) comes approx. Rs 12. In addition to the above, hot milk is also consumed
during high tea (approx. 30 litres)
We request everyone to kindly use the increased high tea facilities judiciously. We are in constant
talks with Chef on Wheels to work out a system of standardisation at all messes.
Your cooperation in this regard is highly appreciated.
