College Athletes Should Be Paid
I believe that college athletes should be paid for their outstanding performances !hose
"ho oppose paying athletes fre#uently refer to the $free education% student&athletes
receive, but !yler 'artnett (former )*+ player, states -scholarships may seem li.e a lot
of money, but it really only covers the basics/
1
+ more in depth analysis of this reveals
the amount of time (full&time 0ob 40 hrs1"ee., collegiate sports ta.e up, "hich in turn
results in athletes not being able to "or. for e2tra spending money 3n the other hand,
athletes earn their schools hundreds of thousands of dollars (often millions,, increase
enrollment, and if they do "ell, provide a top recruiting class for generations 4o "here is
all of this money going5 Coaches and -top )C++ e2ecutives are getting 61 million per
year "hile an athlete can%t earn 670 from signing a fe" autographs/
2
'ence, college
athletes generate billions of dollars per year, spend 40 hours a "ee. of labor in their sport
alone, and can lose their scholarships if they are in0ured, therefore the )C++ should
allo" athletes to receive pay for their valuable labor
